LSUS College of Sciences, Sci-Port Discovery Center and the Shreveport-Bossier Astronomical Society will host events Saturday, May 2, 2009 celebrating National Astronomy Day.
The events will start at 1:00 p.m. in the Science Lecture Auditorium at LSUS with a presentation by Dr. Cheryl White, the Hubert Humphreys Professor of History at LSUS, on Johannes Kepler, a historical astrologer. At 2:15 p.m., Dr. Laura Whitlock, the George Khoury Professor of Space Science at LSUS, will present a lecture focusing on the science of what Kepler discovered about planetary motion and will include audience participation in the discovery. At 7:00 p.m. the Shreveport-Bossier Astronomical Society will host a Star Party at the Worley Observatory.
