Welcome to the Department of Computer Science at LSU in Shreveport. Our department offers two undergraduate degrees - Computer Science and Computer Information Systems - as well as a Master of Science in Computer Systems Technology.
Department faculty are active in research in the areas of bioinformatics, wireless sensor networks, and digital image analysis and processing. Other areas of interest and activity include computer networking and security. This research and other activities offer outstanding opportunities for undergraduate as well as graduate students to be directly involved in cutting edge research and development.
Our department has well equipped classrooms and labs as well as other state of the art equipment including a cluster, "The Crayfish", of 90 nodes (with 180 processors) running Linux.
As a result of developments in the Shreveport-Bossier community, we are about to become more heavily involved in the areas of digital animation and visual effects as well as computer and network security.
